Care Farming at The Maker Farm

Care farming promotes mental and physical health by combining the care of animals and the natural world with the care of people. On a Care Farm, people, animals, and the earth work together to promote health and well-being. Join, Beth Frankel, LSW, to enjoy the many benefits of the fresh air, outdoors, gardening, and interaction with the farm animals. We will participate in meaningful outdoor and farm activities encouraging increased self confidence, social interaction, and independence.

 

Group or individual programming available for youth, adults, seniors, special needs, disabled, and underserved populations.

CARE FARMING FIELD TRIPS
Farm Field Trips for Adults

Care Farming Field Trips for special needs, disabled, and underserved youth, adults, and seniors.

Come enjoy the miracle of the farm! Small groups with individualized attention encourage the development of increased self-esteem, improved social skills, and healthy coping skills. Visit includes a tour of the farm, interaction with the animals, and participation in a fun farm activity.

INDIVIDUAL PROGRAMMING
Care Farming Horses

Individual programming available for special needs, disabled, and underserved youth, adults, and seniors.

Sometimes spending 1:1 time at the farm is most beneficial. One hour visits offer a chance to experience the peace, quiet, and calm of the farm, while spending time with the animals and working on specific emotional and social challenges.

Ages: 8-10
Mondays, 3:00 to 4:15 pm

This group will focus on the miracle of nature while learning and practicing healthy coping skills to reduce stress and anxiety, develop social and relationship skills, and increase healthy self-esteem building skills. We will spend quality time with the animals, learn about their proper care, and work together to complete barnyard chores. We will enjoy the many benefits of the natural world surrounding the farm, in addition to participating in farm themed arts, crafts, and games.

 

All groups are limited to 6 participants to allow for individualized programming. Programming designed for both typical youth and individuals struggling with anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, and high functioning autism. This group is designed specifically for horse lovers! We will learn about horse care, tack, and enjoy an occasional pony ride. We will also spend time learning about, caring for, and having fun with the many other animals on the farm, and participate in seasonal gardening. Through our experiences, we will learn about and practice healthy social, self-esteem, and coping skills. In addition, we will enjoy farm themed arts, crafts, and games.

 

All groups are limited to 6 participants to allow for individualized programming. Programming designed for both typical youth and individuals struggling with anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, and high functioning autism.
