Summer Camps at The Maker Farm

Summer Camps 2019 at The Maker Farm

The Maker Farm hosts a Massachusetts-certified summer camp. Create, grow and celebrate this summer at The Maker Farm’s summer camp. There’s something for every child – pony camps at the barn, theater in the garden, arts & crafts classes, farm sports, filmmaking, and so much more. Each day, camps kick off with an All-Camp Jamboree including fun games and activities. We’re excited to offer so much more to nourish your child’s imagination and spirit!

2019 Logistics & Policies

We offer both process-based camps and product-based camps. Please read descriptions with care when signing up your child. If you know your child wants to unwind this summer, we have camps which focus on play, animals, and fun crafts. If you want your child to learn a new skill or hone a talent they already possess, we have art, sewing, theater, animal, and art camps which focus on a final, polished product.

Our focus this year will once again be OUR GARDENS! We are building more recycled raised beds, have a large hoophouse, AND now have a full outdoor classroom. And, our horses are trained for cart and wagon!

Reserving Camp Spots

  • Our camp limits will not be extended. Once a camp is full, we will not be able to add any more children to that camp. A waitlist will be kept. Please sign-up right away for the camps your child would like to join. This is the best way to ensure your spot in popular camps.
  • Camp spots will be held NO LONGER THAN TWO WEEKS without a non-refundable $50 camp deposit per child per camp. No exceptions.
  • Your final camp payment is due no later than July 1, 2019. Camps cancelled after July 1 will receive only partial reimbursement. Camps cancelled with only a week’s notice or less will not be refunded.

Food & Drink

Campers are asked to bring a labeled water bottle, a snack, and lunch. All items must be nut-free as we welcome many campers with food allergies. All adult staff are trained to use Epi-pens, are CORIed, and have first-aid and CPR training.

Drop-Off, Pick-Up & Extended Care

For drop-off and pick-up, our loop system is beloved by the busy parent! Simply enter our loop, your child will join our staff in our big backyard at drop-off or be placed in your car at pick-up and continue to Emily Piper at The Fairy Tree to sign-in or out. A camp counselor will walk your child to your car, unless you would like to stay and enjoy the farm for a few minutes after camp. In this case, we ask you to park in our general parking area. A written note will be required for your child to go home with anyone not listed on your pick-up list, and ID will be required.

Our extended care program is from 7:45 am-6:00 pm each day. You do not have to sign-up in advance. It is available every day. We will log each child’s extended care hours. Extended care is based out of the large farmhouse and is well-staffed. Charges are $8 per hour for one child or $10 per hour per family. This will be invoiced at the end of the summer season.

We also are removing the title of LT. All will be Counselors-in-Training.

At the end of our 2016 Summer Camp season, I asked the kids what their three favorite parts of summer camp at The Maker Farm are. The three unanimous answers were the staff, the animals and the farmstand. So, we created this camp, and it is back for a third year. This week is a final HURRAH for our 2019 summer camp. Young makers will focus on harvesting for the Thursday farmstand, creating fun products to sell and of course, spending quality time with the animals at the farm. We have a lot of campers who enjoy the farm for most of their summer, and this camp is a great way for them to say their final goodbyes to staff and the animals with whom they have bonded.
